Fifteen years ago, when my infant daughter was born with severe food intolerances, I began a journey which would guide me to the belief that the food we eat can either be our safest and most powerful form of medicine, or the slowest form of poison. Having used poi previously for myself and my first born daughter for our own food sensitivities, I instinctively turned to taro, the "staff of life" of the ancient Hawaiians, for my baby's life threatening illness.
